Where psychiatric medication is the right step, we explain the options, the realistic timeline, and the trade-offs before anything is prescribed. Antidepressants take four to six weeks to reach full effect; ADHD medication works within days but requires titration and monitoring. We are conservative with benzodiazepines and clear about why. Prescriptions go electronically to your Salem-area pharmacy the same day.
Follow-up is one week after your initial visit, then every two weeks while a dose is being adjusted after any medication change, then spaced to match how you are doing. We repeat the same rating scales so progress is measured rather than guessed. What we are not: a crisis service, an inpatient program, or a child and adolescent practice. We see adults 18 and over across Marion and Polk counties, and we will say plainly when someone would be better served elsewhere.
