Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified

Lavena practices adult psychiatry the way she believes it should work: first visits long enough to take a real history, and a treatment plan built with the patient rather than handed to them.

Her clinical focus is adult ADHD, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. As a mother herself, Lavena understands the demands of parenthood, and she provides compassionate support for LGBTQIA+ patients.

Cael, Patient Care Coordinator at MindHealth Psychiatry

Cael

Patient Care Coordinator

The practice’s first point of contact. Cael helps new patients get scheduled, answers questions about what to expect, and makes sure everything is in place before your first appointment.

Our care model

A deliberately small practice.

MindHealth Psychiatry limits its panel size to preserve continuity of care. Whenever scheduling allows, patients continue with the same clinician across follow-up visits, and the full record of your evaluation, prior trials, and treatment plan stays with the practice.

Initial evaluations are scheduled at extended length rather than in brief increments. The first appointment covers psychiatric and medical history, prior medication trials and their outcomes, and screening for conditions that frequently present alongside the primary concern.

Your first follow-up is about a week later. While a dose is being adjusted we meet every two weeks, then monthly once you are stable. Rating scales are repeated so decisions are based on data rather than recall.
